Executors, Estates & Probating a Will in British Columbia
Probate
Probate refers to the process whereby a Will is approved by the Court as the last valid Will of a deceased person.
Probate confirms and gives legal authority to the Executor named in the Will to administer the Estate.
In British Columbia, not all Wills require probate. You would be well advised to discuss your particular Estate with a lawyer for clarification of this point. Please note that the legal requirements may vary in each province.
